Yesterday me Logan and Grace (Logan's cousin) had breakfast at a nice restaurant amd went shopping afterwards. We had a lot of fun and it was quite an experience to have a real American breakfast with two Americans..
When we got back, we had to say goodbye to Kevin's family members who had come over to visit for the weekend, which I thought was a shame because I really liked them. We also had a swim in the pool because the weather was finally nice enough to do so :). In the afternoon we went to a Mexican restaurant and I actually liked it, eventhough it was very spicey and Logan made me try everything..
Today I stayed at the house instead of going to work with Carolyn and I was lucky because the westher was even better than yesterday. I went for another hike (and walked past a movie set on my way back), walked to the city (which ended up being longer than I expected) and layed around the pool. So I had a very relaxing day :)

Yesterday I went to work again and I had a fun day because I was allowed to help all of the guests before they got on the show. Most guests were politicians so I didn't really recognise them but it was still very cool to see them pull up in their big cars and having their assistant and chauffeur walk them in. The 2 guests who I did know of were Steve Harvey and the former mayor of LA! He told me about how he had once shown around king Willem Alexander in a helicopter and of course all the important people he knew (like obama!) which was very interesting. We also had a fire drill that day and because it was friday, there were donuts and some ladies had a dance party in one of the meeting rooms which was also very funny. When we came home some family members of Kevin arrived: his stepmother, father, sister and cousin. All of them are staying untill sunday so it is very busy in the house now as they have also brought their 3 dogs with them. Luckily they are very kind and fun people to talk with so I'm having a good time with them.
This morning me, Logan, her aunt, her cousin and 2 of the dogs went on a hike (after they had had their daily starbucks of course.) When we got back, Logan had to go to a party and the rest was going to watch Griffin's baseball game except for Carolyn who still had to return a pair of shoes in Beverly Hills. She asked me to come with her, and I thought it would only be rude to say no to that ;)
So she drove me through the beautifull streets of Beverly Hills and we walked the Rodeo Drive boulevard after which she also drove through Hollywood on the way back! :)

2nd work day
This morning we arrived at the NBC office on time for the morning meeting again after dropping off Logan. Today I had decided to follow closely a few subjects that were chosen. These were:
1. A man who had been injured seriously after police officers had beaten him up before arresting him due to a failed runaway. The man wanted to sew the officers (sewing people seems to be a whole industry in America) but he settled for only 600 dollars, which the reporters found a bit fishy because it seems like a small amount of money.
2. A woman was filming police officers whilst they were arresting a bunch of people when one of the officers walked up to her, took her phone and slammed it on the ground. A neighbour filmed the whole thing. Again, of course, the woman is sewing the police officer.
3. A woman was ready to take surgery for a tumor in her brain when the doctor found out that it wasn't a tumor but an embryo of her twin.
Only the first to storys made the cut because of lack of evidence and video shots. I met a kind lady who I was allowed to follow throughout the collecting of information and even the way news items come to their attention, this was especially cool because there was another car chase and I sat and watched how she commanded for a helicopter and a newsreporter. This was a small part of my research for my pws that I wanted to share with you, I won't bore you with it anymore from now on ;)
For lunch I had to walk a small part of universal studios (in my last report I called it studio city which was wrong) and as Carolyn had an appointment I had some time for myself. It was fun to sit there and watch tourists coming by in small busses whilst they were trying to figure out if you were someone famous. A lady sat at my table and she told me she was a make-up artist, she also told me I looked Russian which I did not take as a compliment..
The rest of the day I attended some meetings and interviewd some people. It's exiting that everyone who works for the news now knows my name and I know my way around the building. I can walk into control rooms, sets and offices and everyone smiles at me and asks me how my day has been. Tena and Rosa (the ladies I were shadowing today) even printed emails and scedules of news items for me. Working from 9-7 is quite tyring and sometimes very boring, especially when you don't have anything you really have to do ;)
Luckily it is still very exiting and fun to watch everything that happens before news gets to the public!
First day at work
This morning we left the house at half past 8 to drop off Logan at her highschool on the way to work, it was really nice to see what an actual American highschool looks like.. just like in the movies! ;) Then we arrived at Carolyn's work and that is, for those of you who don't know that yet, a news anchor for KNLBC news. She showed me her desk and introduced me to a lot of nice people. Her desk is situated in a place where all of the other news anchors are as well. The man who normally works next to Carolyn broke his foot so I can use his desk in the meantime. It is very funny how you can walk past someone or speak to them and then a few minutes later you see them on a television screen. Because Carolyn had to tell her boss what I'm doing here, I had to have a small interview with 2 ladies about my intensions.. which was kind of scary because, of course, I'm not a college student or long term intern like they normally have at the news station. Luckily they were both very nice. I was allowed to sit at the morning meeting, here they discuss what news they are going to be handling that day. It was very different than I had expected it to be because everyone was new to (most) of the subjects and some reporters pitched a few ideas which are then discussed and devided amongst the other reporters. This was very interesting to watch. After the morning meeting, Carolyn went to do her make-up at her make-up artist, which I thought was very funny because the male reporters (who had very white teeth) also did their make-up. Then I was allowed to sit in the back of the set whilst they were reporting live, again this was different than I expected because there was nobody in the room exept of me and the reporters, the cameras were all atomatically controlled by the controll room, where I was also allowed to sit during a newscast later. It was very nice to see how the directors have to be able to adjust and handle quickly.
In the lunch break, Carolyn took me to see a bit of studio city, this is where a lot of shows and film sets are so that was a great experiencw, unfortunatly it is very big and we only got to see a small part of it. Also, you are not allowed to make pictures, luckily I could secretly take a few pictures of a street that looks real but is actually madr up out of plastic and fake buildings.
After the lunch break Carolyn had to prepare for her show at 6 pm and I watched some tv at the desk as I was a little bit tired. I also got to talk to some more people who work at the station which was nice because they all have different responsabilities and tasks. We went home at 7pm and dropped past a grocery store to pick up a cake for Kevin's birthday which we are about to celebrate..
